For diagnosis and therapy - (22/09/2022)
Culture conditions sometimes make it difficult to detect non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), in particular Mycobacterium abscessus (Mabs), an emerging pathogen of cystic fibrosis (CF) in respiratory samples. It is currently the rapidly growing mycobacterium (RGM) most frequently isolated in human pathology and the most implicated in pulmonary infections. It is also the most antibiotic-resistant of all mycobacterial species. The project is based on the development of a serological test, making diagnosis faster and less invasive than with current methods (sputum or bronchoalveolar lavage).
